SPoRT Introductory Stakeholder Summit

NASA’s Short-Term Prediction Research and Transition (SPoRT) hosted a virtual Introductory Stakeholder Summit & Seminar event on Wednesday, November 16. This event provided an overview of SPoRT’s main focus areas to its stakeholders which includes Air Quality, Land Surface Processes, Lightning & Convection, Synoptic & Mesoscale Processes, and Tropical Systems.

SPoRT Research Scientist collaborators Dr. Aaron Naeger and Kevin Fuell discuss his air quality research and the Tropospheric Emissions: Monitoring POllution (TEMPO) mission.

NASA SPoRT Principial Investigator Dr. Chrstopher Hain and Senior Meteorologist Jon Case discuss the SPoRT-Land Information System (SPoRT-LIS) products and the Evaporative Stress Index (ESI).

SPoRT Research Scientist Dr. Christopher Schultz and Research Associate collaborator Kelley Murphy discuss current and future research related to lightning.

SPoRT Research Scientist collaborator Dr. Andrew White and National Weather Service Applications Integration Meteorologist Kris White discuss the successes and future capabilities of SPoRT’s machine learning streamflow product.

SPoRT Research Scientists Dr. Emily Berndt and Ryan Wade discuss the value of NOAA Unique Combined Atmospheric Processing System (NUCAPS) product.
